Sunburn Treatment
Get Sunburn Relief Quickly and Naturally
It's easy to get sunburned! And anyone who has been sunburned can tell you how painful it is.
Sunburn results when the amount of exposure to the sun or other ultraviolet (UV) light source (tanning beds, for example) exceeds the ability of the body's protective pigment, melanin, to protect the skin.
The long-term consequences of repeated overexposure to the sun are significant. One blistering sunburn actually doubles the likelihood of developing skin cancer. In addition, chronic sun exposure causes premature wrinkling and aging of the skin. Age spots (lentigo) are also a result of sun exposure.

Lighter-skinned individuals are affected more frequently and severely. Skin types may be divided into 6 categories, based on an individual's tendency to tan or sunburn (see Table 1). These categories are referred to as skin "phototypes" (A classification system based on a person's sensitivity to sunlight. People with skin types I and II are at the highest risk for photo-aging effects, including wrinkles and skin cancer. However, sun effects, including wrinkles and skin cancer, can occur in any skin type).
