Eczema Treatment

Causes of Eczema

The condition known as eczema usually occurs in persons with a family history of allergies. When people with eczema are exposed to a trigger factor, inflammation-producing cells travel to the skin and release chemicals that make the skin dry and flakey and may cause itching and redness. Common trigger factors are allergens, environment changes, infections, and psychological stress. Since eczema dries out the skin, the most direct way to treat eczema is to help the skin regain its moisture retention capacity.

Eczema Treatment - treat eczema the natural way

For centuries, shea butter has been used in Africa to treat dry skin and to keep the skin moist and healthy. In the 1900's, the French discovered shea butter and began to use this magical substance sparingly as an ingredient in expensive moisturizers. Shea butter is now finally becoming more readily available world wide and is beginning to be recognized as a naturally effective medicinal botanical for the treatment of eczema.

Shea butter, especially Karite Gold Original Formula with its additional essential oils, is a wonderful agent for revitalizing our skin cells so that they regain their moisture retention capacity. Unrefined shea butter not only contains a high moisturizing fraction, but also contains an extraordinarily high healing fraction. Because of these powerful properties, it's nature's finest one-stop product for dealing effectively with eczema.

The Healing Fraction: When just a moisturizer is used to treat eczema, the skin cells are hydrated, but then quickly lose the moisture. To treat eczema effectively, the cells need to be made more elastic. The essential oils we add to Karite Gold work synergistically with the shea butter's healing fraction to restore the skin cells' elasticity. As the healing progresses, the cells continue to admit moisture as before, but after the healing are better able to keep it from escaping.

The Moisturizing Fraction: Shea butter is a particularly good moisturizer because it penetrates the skin quickly, while leaving it feeling soft and smooth with no oily residue.

When using shea butter as an eczema treatment, apply a moderate amount of Karite Gold to the areas of your skin that are affected by eczema. After you have coated an area of your skin with shea butter, spend some time making sure that the shea butter works its way down under the surface of your skin. Move your fingers gently in a circular motion as you apply the shea butter.
